Last year, RuneScape celebrated its 20th anniversary. Now the creators have announced that the production will also be transferred to the tables and will be available as a board game. The work will be created as a result of cooperation between Jagex and Steamforged Games. In addition, a title inspired by rs3 gold will debut on the market - in the TTRPG edition.
RuneScape was founded in 2001 and almost immediately gained immense popularity among all MMORPG lovers. One may even be tempted to say that this work became an iconic production of this genre and paved the way for many later successors.
The English game producer Jagex will join forces with the tycoon on the board games market, the Steamforged Games company. The result of this cooperation will be the creation of two productions: The first is - the board edition of RuneScape, strongly modeled on the rich and saturated fantasy world contained in the computer version of this game. The second proposal is a TTRPG role-playing game.
Old School Runescape breaks records of popularity
According to the announcement, both productions are to debut in 2022, but before that happens, the largest crowdfunding website Kickstarter will organize a community fundraiser that will allow for the release of these productions.
The games will draw heavily on the adventures, locations and characters in RuneScape's nearly 21-year history. The producers plan to implement a special campaign based on the implementation of tasks that will allow you to create and improve equipment, raise character skills or establish dialogue with other NPCs.
The plan for implementing and developing the new venture was also shared by Jagex CEO Phil Mansell.
After more than 21 years of being only digitally available, it's incredibly exciting to work with Steamforged to create and deliver new story-driven RuneScape adventures for board players. Given Steamforged's expertise in bringing video game experiences to the tables, I'm sure both RuneScape and OldSchool Runescape players will be excited to get their hands on planned figures and create their own adventures with other players.
