Often players question the rationale behind buying OSRS gold in Old School RuneScape. This article will explore various reasons that players do tend to buy gold for the game, so if you’re interested in those reasons, continue reading on.
It kickstarts your account
If you’re a newer player, or even an intermediate one, one thing that quickly becomes evident is the disparity of money-making methods. Many money-making methods like flipping can only be maximally efficient with a large amount of starting gold, otherwise, you are only making incremental profits.
Likewise, at a lower level, you can’t exactly smelt the best ore at the Blast Furnace (not to mention the quests that involve), nor can you defeat Vorkath to get a couple of million OSRS gold per hour.
The best money-making methods are at the end-game stage, not the early or middle game stage. And the latter two stages are when players really need the gold the most to buy things like combat gear and skilling supplies. Thus, with access to only slow money-making methods, you will be doing activities that are inherently sub-optimal and monotonous (because they simply take longer) to achieve the same amount of gold as a late-game player.
Gold is a resource
One thing players tend to forget is that gold is a resource in and of itself. That means the more gold you have, the more gold you make. That may not be an intuitive concept, but with the same examination, you’ll see that it almost always proves true.
For example, if you’re bossing but using sub-optimal gear to defeat that boss, your kills will take longer. If you have optimal gear, you will get more kills per hour, thereby increasing your hourly profit. Furthermore, some methods of making money within the game simply require a larger amount of starting cash. If a boss requires level 90 Prayer, you have to invest the gold into those bones to bury. Or for a method like flipping, you can obtain larger items by flipping more expensive and rarer (yet still very useful) OSRS items.
